Easter Bunny Train Rides 2013 – updated!

These museums take you back into the historic past of railroads and trains. Kids of all ages can also enjoy a train ride, so do bring the grandparents as well! Some rides may include an Easter Egg Hunt in the middle or at the end of the trip. Don’t forget to bring your cameras! Most are run as fundraisers for railroad historic preservation. Not all rides offer the same features, so do click thru to compare! Historic cars at some museums may differ significantly compared to commuter cars as to quietness, draft-proofing, volume of heat and number of/presence of on-train bathrooms.

New Jersey

 Easter Bunny Train Ride   Wayne (Passaic county)

Meet Easter Bunny & other costumed characters Saturday March 23rd Wayne. Departures 9 am, 11 am, 1 pm & 3 pm. During the 60 minute Easter Bunny Train Ride the Easter Bunny will hop through the train and visits each child, giving them a special gift from his basket. In addition to the Easter Bunny there will be several other surprise cartoon characters in costume that will also visit each child. Tickets: Adults – $13 each Children – $9 each. ALL passengers, including in­fants, require a ticket.

The Easter Bunny Express Flemington (Hunterdon county)

Dates of Operation: March 23 (Saturday), March 24 (Sunday), March 29 (Friday) & March 30 (Saturday) 2013. All trains depart Flemington Station. All departures are round-trip rides. 11 AM, 1 PM, 3 PM. Tickets are first come first serve. Reservations not available. Under age three: FREE, Age 3-11: $7.00, Age 12 and up: $14.00. Passengers begin their round-trip ride at Flemington Station. Easter Bunny Train Ride & Egg Hunt   Phillipsburg, NJ (Warren county)

Saturday March 23rd, Sunday March 24 & Saturday March 30th. Ride the Easter Bunny Train Ride and visit with Mr. E. Bunny on the train. Your ride will wind along the scenic Delaware River leaving from the Historic District of Phillipsburg, New Jersey. The train will travel along the river to Carpentersville and our destination will be the site of the historic Lime Kilns. In front of the 150 year old Lime kilns is a beautiful little glade filled with Easter eggs! Once we arrive you can get off the train, take a picture with Mr. Bunny and gather 4 Easter eggs! On the train enjoy our banjo playing Hobo and a Juggler! Departures: 11 am, 12:30 pm, 2 pm and 3:30 pm.  Tickets: $8/child, $16/adult, $2/“lap sitters.”

Easter Express at Pine Creek RR   Farmingdale (Monmouth county)

Easter Express – TBD in 2013. Ride the Easter Express through Allaire State Park with the Easter Bunny!  Trains leave every half hour from Noon to 4:30 PM. Tickets must be purchased in person with cash or check (no credit cards).  Tickets $5/person, regardless of age.

Easter Bunny Express Whippany RR Museum   Whippany (Morris county)

Saturday, March 23; Sunday, March 24; Saturday, March 30. Departures at 1 pm, 2 pm, 3 pm & 4 pm. Catch the Easter Bunny and his team of hoppy helpers on board this themed 45-minute long train ride through northern New Jersey, including the Morristown & Erie Railway’s historic Whippanong Trail.  Bring your camera to take a picture of your child with the Easter Bunny as he hands out treats to each child (be sure you’re ready for your shot—they move from child to child quickly!).  Tickets: Babes-in-Arms (toddler in parent’s lap): FREE. Children (under 13, in their own seat): $8. Adults (age 13+): $13. Jersey Coast Club car are $3 each additional.

Easter Bunny Express – Saturday, March 30, 2013. Celebrate the coming of spring with a scenic train ride on the Naugatuck Railroad including a visit and gift for each child from the Easter Bunny! Reservations recommended, as trains sell out early. 80 minute train rides at 10 a.m., noon and 2 p.m. Board your train at the Thomaston Station in Thomaston. During the 90 minute Easter Bunny Train Ride the Easter Bunny will hop through the train and visits each child, giving them a special gift from his basket. In addition to the Easter Bunny there will be several other surprise cartoon characters in costume that will also visit each child. Tickets: Adults – $13 each Children – $9 each. Infants under the age of 1 who will not occupy a seat do not need a ticket. All children 1 and over are required to have a ticket.
